That is a govt sponsored hotline, from the govt that betrayed and continues to betray us, why would I want to call them? I volunteered for a real Suicide Hotline , not this sham.

I think anything or any service that benefits our vets and service members is a good thing.

From Wiki, re suicide generally:

  1. The annual age-adjusted suicide rate is 13.42 per 100,000 individuals.
  2. Men die by suicide 3.53x more often than women.
  3. Women attempt suicide 1.2x more often than men.
  4. On average, there are 123 suicides per day.
  5. White males accounted for 7 of 10 suicides in 2016.
  6. A firearm is used in almost 50% of all suicides.
  7. The rate of suicide is highest in middle age—white men in particular.

With 123 suicides per day, it does not shock me that 22 of them are vets (about 20%).  Or that old white guys are the largest group of victims.  It's a problem across the board, not just among vets.  We could all use some help.

Our little county, poorest in the state, had 3 suicides 2 weeks ago. Around 10,000 people for the county. All 3 hung their selves. One teen, one 20, and one in his 30's. None related to each other.

Well if you don't like the government sponsored line, there's always the PTSD Foundation of America.  It's run by vets for vets.

PTSD Veteran Line: (877) 717-PTSD (7873)
