The below pro-gun bills have been scheduled for committee hearings this week:

Senate Bill 403, sponsored by Senator John Stevens, creates mandatory prison penalties for the theft of a firearm.  This legislation would actually punish criminals for their acts, instead of placing the burden on law-abiding gun owners.  Senate Bill 403 is scheduled for consideration in the Senate Finance, Ways, and Means Committee on Tuesday.

House Bill 409, sponsored by Rep. Bruce Griffey, would confer civil immunity upon a person who uses or threatens force in self-defense, defense of another, or defense from a person committing a criminal offense, unless the person against whom force is used is a law enforcement officer during discharge of the officer's duties and the person knows the person is an officer.  House Bill 409 has been scheduled for consideration in the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

House Bill 1380, sponsored by Rep. Ryan Williams, as amended would allow K-12 school teachers to exercise their right to self-defense on public school property.  House Bill 1380 has been scheduled for consideration in the House Education Committee on Wednesday.  SB 1399, the cross-file of HB 1380, sponsored by Senator Mike Bell, has been scheduled for consideration in the Senate Education Committee on Wednesday.

Your NRA-ILA will continue to keep you updated on these and other issues that affect your Second Amendment rights in The Volunteer State.
