Why Carry a Gun?

It's not that the anti-gunners want you to become a victim. They simply have this unrealistic notion that if guns are banned and nobody is allowed to carry one that you won't be a victim in the first place. Apparently they never heard of the various cutting and blunt-force weapons at criminals' disposal. Some of the more ridiculous antis expect you to be a man and be able to fend off such criminals with your bare hands. Sorry, but I'm too old and slow to be going mano a mano with a couple of young punks half my age and in much better shape.

Perhaps the simplest, unassuming, benign anti-gunners could be put under that umbrella. The in your face, ardent, ranting, screaming variety are absolutely intent on making you a victim if they ever get you disarmed!!  They intend to exercise every form of dominance on you that they can and because you are unable to effectively defend yourself they will use the weight of whatever government authority they can control to do so!!

 

They want you disarmed so that you cannot resist even the smallest armed detachment of whatever "enforcement group" they command.  You will eventually lose your ability to remove them at the polls because elections will become a sham.  You won't be allowed to move about freely.  If you DO move or travel, you'll be required to notify some authority and obtain their approval in order to do so.  You will work, (if there is any work) for a government regulated, strictly controlled factory or facility for little pay and less chance of advancement or personal improvement!!  

 

There's much more, but if you don't think that this would be victimization....

Oh, when I carry, it's a S&W 9mm Shield, and as in Forty Rod's #3 reason above, I pray to my God I never have to deploy it against another human being.

Just wondering...

 

 Lots of people have been carrying concealed for many years, possibly decades, possibly their entire adult life. It's a security that people get used to. Putting on a firearm while dressing become 2nd nature and wearing it all day actually becomes living with it. If legal concealed carry is abolished how many people will still carry? Still carry for their own safety and say to hell with the consequences? 

 

 If legal concealed carry is ever abolished how long will it take violent crime rates against individuals to skyrocket?

America is an experiment..."a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal... we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

 

It is clear that today many want the experiment to end.  Private ownership of firearms and carrying concealed are two things that I can do to try to prolong the experiment.

 

Self government requires self control, and accepting responsibility for one's decisions and actions.  Freedom is dangerous, but it is better than the alternative.
