Lastcall Ranger
Somewhere I remember seeing a leather lace on butt stock cover that would convert a curved butt stock to a shotgun style butt stock without cutting the stock by using some sort of padding inside the cover,. Now that I want one, I cannot find it. Is my memory deceiving me, or do any of you know who sells this type of product? Thanks.
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
Tell us which rifle you want to smooth out the crescent butt on. A 73? Be aware that just covering the crescent with a padded cover will extend Length of Pull by about 3/4". If you are large enough to handle that, great. I use the Kirkpatrick butt covers on all my 73s, which softens the crescent corner bite, adds rough texture so the steel plate doesn't slide around, and that is enough for me. For a heavy recoiling rifle, I could see going straight with the butt. Good luck, GJ
Springfield Slim SASS #24733
If done right you can straighten out the curve while adding minimal length. I have done it a few times as I don't like Crescent stocks but don't always want to switch out the stocks for a shotgun or carbine stock.
M.T Chambers, SASS#76185
I took the crescent butt plate off and shaped a piece of wood to fill in the crescent, then put a butt cover on. I don't know if these are what you're looking for https://www.buffaloarms.com/competition-butt-tamer-gabt http://www.kick-killer-recoil-pads.com/kick-killer-slip-on-recoil-pad-with-lace-up-closure/ Good Luck, MTC
