Westerns on 1950's old radio shows

Recommended Posts

When I'm doing my daily  walk down the road and back (country gravel road little or no traffic) , I listen to the westerns on old radio shows from the 50's on my earphones. Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, Lone Ranger, Hopalong Cassidy, Wild Bill Hickok, Cisco Kid etc.  They all have the same theme, the hero is the smartest person on the planet and the sidekick has an IQ of 3.  Whenever the sidekick makes a suggestion as to solve a dilemma, the hero always says,

No Chester, we are going to..

No Hey Boy....

No Tonto, we are going to...

No California, we are going to....

No Jingles, we are going to...

No Pancho we are going to..

Another line you will hear at least twice during the show will be,

What are we going to do now, Mr Dillon?

What you do now Mr Paladin?

What we do now Kemo Sabe?

What are we going to do now Hoppy?

What are we going to do now Wild Bill?

What we do now Cisco?

You can see why they ask the question because, if they offered a solution, it would be rejected.

Just saying...

I love those old shows, brings back memories of another time in my life years ago.  Different actors than the TV versions, such as William Conrad as Matt Dillon and John Dehner as Paladin.  They make walking down the road a treat and before I know it, I'm back home again.

Johnny Dollar is one of my favorites on Radio Classics on Sirius Radio. Gunsmoke is pretty good too, along with Jimmy Stewart in "The Sixshooter".
