Marshal Jed Cooper
SOLD! Howdy pards, Selling my Colt Single Action Army. .45 Colt with 5 1/2" barrel. Model P1850 After putting a box of cowboy loads through it I sent it to Doug Turnbull for the following work: 1 32628 Colt SAA 5 1/2'' .45 s/n S74145A 2 DASS Disassemble, Clean 3 POLISH Polish all parts for correct finish 4 CC Color Case Harden frame and loading gate. 5 HB Hot Blue Colt SAA parts 6 NB Nitre Blue base pin, screws, trigger 7 GRIPS One Piece Deluxe Walnut grips. 8 ASSEMBLY Oil, Grease, Reassemble. The cost for the above work : $1375.00 (I'm not a huge fan of the stock grips so Doug's team made custom one piece walnut grips for it. I figured since I had it there I might as well have them do their Turnbull SAA job on it.) I have not shot it once I received it back from Turnbull. Went straight into the safe. The action is slick with a crisp trigger break. Comes with everything from the factory including Colt blue box and white outer sleeve. I'm moving over to black powder and continue to collect Colt 2nd Gen percussion guns so I'm selling this. Price: $2000 (includes shipping) Will ship from my FFL to your FFL. Local pickup if in VA. I will accept discrete Paypal friends and family, money order, certified funds (bank check, etc.) First pard to post "I'll take it" in the forum will be the one who receives it regardless of emails. Please email me at schofield1875@yahoo.com if interested. Thanks. - marshal jed
Truth Herz
Nice work on this SAA. Just out of curiosity, why redo the CCH on such a recent production gun?
Marshal Jed Cooper
Colt tends to do a “dull” case coloring which is correct for Colt. I’m partial to the Turnbull case colors. I also had Turnbull do my 1873 Winchester.. Just preference in my case.
Marshal Jed Cooper
To answer some questions: Yes, I have the Turnbull work order. Date of manufacture: I believe 2014 or so (doesn't come up in the Colt online database.) I've had Turnbull do several guns of mine. Since the turnaround is long I generally have him do the full package to the gun since he already has it. Again, that is just my preference. It may be overkill to some folks but I like the way they turn out. To each his own as they say. - marshal jed
