Making The Turn

Working in Light Rail Transit we have moved many railcars by truck and I have always been impressed by the entire operation when it is done professionally and properly.

Operations like these in the videos makes railcar delivery pale in comparison.

To make big moves It takes a lot of coordination and it takes people in charge who have to know their stuff and aren’t afraid to make decisions. It also takes staff that also know their stuff and know their responsibilities. It only takes one dumbass to really muck up the works. Often, that dumbass is someone with outside influence, like; a cop or a bureaucrat that needs their ego massaged and prove they have some sort of power. This is where the people in charge need to be diligent and have a good working relationship with every group involved.

Big moves take a lot of planning, coordination and knowledge. It takes a lot of smart and talented people in a variety of vocations to work together. It’s quite impressive to watch when everything comes together.

Thanks Joe.

The planning it out - driving the route, measuring, mapping, modeling, finding alternates, checking the bridges, road widths, utility lines, sign heights, etc.  Then doing it again to make sure nothing was missed.
