Trailrider #896
Took a tour of the Terry Bison Ranch that straddles the Wyoming/Colorado line. They have a train that they run and you can hand feed the buffs with pellets. Wife fell in love with one, and wanted to bring one home. I convinced her (didn't take much) that our dogs wouldn't like it, and I seriously doubt our fences could contain such a critter. Wife settled for a painting print showing a buffalo in winter! (They do make good eating, however!)

Birdgun Quail, SASS #63663
I had seen this bronze for sale in an art gallery in Santa Fe, loved it, walked away. There was something about the bronze that talked to me. I don't know if it's the fragility and the greatness. The tenderness. The small reaching to the massive. But I was drawn to it; the little Indian girl reaching to touch the big bull. Two years later in the same art gallery, I saw this same bronze, loved it, walked away. I was still drawn to it. Then one day a year later, I looked for it on the internet, found it, talked to my wife and bought it. It was the last one of a run of 30. A fire to the artist's studio destroyed the mold. I've now had it about two years and I thoroughly enjoy it every day. Receiving Strength by Raymond Gibby (11″ x 15″ x 6″ )
Birdgun Quail, SASS #63663
My wife and I have friends who live in Alabama and they keep three bisons; a bull, cow, and calf. Here's a couple of photos I took of their magnificent bull, "Tanka."

St. Louis Suomi SASS #31905
Our local zoo had a couple and a calf in Manhattan, KS many many years ago. My children loved to go pull grass and feed the buffalo. They are massive creatures indeed. Beautiful to look at. STL Suomi

She lives in the fenced in area with a couple of goats. Another time we were there a lady tossed a watermelon over the fence and it busted up. Buffy started eating it and one of the goats wanted some but couldn't get in close enough. The goat backed up several feet and came forward and head butted Buffy in the head as she was bent over eating. She didn't feel it. Finally the goat got a piece and moved back about 10 feet to eat the watermelon.
