Alpo
This astounds me. The county was plumb full of tall TALL trees. Then Michael came for a visit. Probably 90% of the trees are no longer there. And many of the trees that went down landed on houses. I heard on the radio, t'other day, that there's a plan to plant 20 (or was it 200?) thousand new trees. I used to have trees. The tree in front of the shed-with-no-roof was an oak. I need to cut what's left of it down. The two piles of dirt - those are the root balls of my two pecan trees. Fortunately they blew the other way. Away from the house. Although the farthest one landed on the fence and the neighbor's garage. This was a 35 foot tall maple. I topped it in September. It is now 15 feet tall. Boy, I'm glad I topped it. I'm thinking of putting in a couple of dwarf citrus trees. But there ain't no way in hell I'm putting any tall trees in. People that want "majestic" 30-40 foot tall trees in their yards are foolish.

Alpo
Oh yeah. I got off easy. Nect door neighbor's current garbage pile. The white is the garage my pecan landed on. The tree trash is his fifth or sixth pile that size. That's the last of his. You can see the concrete pad from the garage. And the next house with the unpainted wood around the glass door. That whole wall was destroyed. This is the view from my back gate. Then we have the house across the street. First the west side of the house. Then the east side. Finagler 6853 Life
Scary business. Glad you are ok. Go for the dwarf trees, of any kind. We planted some poplar trees 26 years ago and now they are scary big. One is too close to the shed and will most likely require a professional logger to take it down. If I do it and screw it up, land it on the shed, SWMBO'd, will never let me live it down.
