How do you use an epi pen?

On tv, they stab it. You might not die of the allergy, but you're gonna have a huge bruise on your thigh.

 

I was researching nerve gas pens. These are the instructions.

 

>Grasp the unit and position the green tip into the victim's injection site (outer thigh or buttocks)
Apply firm, even pressure until the autoinjector pushes the needle into the injection site and it begins firing. Using jabbing motion may result in improper injection or injury to the muscle (Figure 3<

 

Is that the way you should do an epi pen also? The STABBING thing is simply tv dramatics?

TV dramatics. Needles break sometimes. Firm pressure. Your not running in a screwdriver.

They taught us to jab the nerve gas pens. Not a lot of time to be delicate with VX. Glad i never had to use one for real.

Pull off the muzzle cover, pull the grenade pin on the back, it's flat and lacks a good Christian ring to pull with.
Then apply to the lateral thigh and as previously mentioned, push firmly.
Hold it in place for a slow count of fifteen dirty seconds.
I carry one for wasp sting and practice regularly with the practice unit, I hold it for thirty dirty seconds to build muscle memory and habit.
There will be liquid left in the unit when it's dispensed all it's going to, so don't panic and think you pulled it too soon.

You jab it in your thigh and shoot. Should not leave much of a bruise. Won't work for nerve gas. Depending on the type that would probably be atropine. Different stuff.
