This article is from last year, before the nationwide elections.  While it is true that new legislation is proposed and may have been put into motion, this information isn't current.  I DO hope the president is still in favor of such legislation!!  The senate dropped the ball on this last fall by NOT passing it and getting it onto Trump's desk!!!!   It'll be interesting to see how it moves through the house!!

Agreed it is from last year but I've heard nothing to date that has changed.  It remains to be seen if the stance has moved in a different direction.  So far the major supporters (NRA - GOA - SAF - NAGR) seem to agree that the previous stance is still relevant.  I posted this more as a reminder that we have had and still have high level support, and not to lose hope.  He has over the past year reaffirmed his support of the 2nd amendment when ask about gun control by the anti-gun media; one just has to listen.  The problem lies in the fact that we now have and (uneducated on guns, the Constitutions & our countries history) anti-gun pro socialistic house as well as the senate rules of a super majority.

I get sooooooooooo tired of the wisdom on police "chiefs."

Those are not cops, they are politicians with a badge. And they agree with whatever policy the mayor (or whomever appointed them) says it is.

Talk to the cops working 3rd shift. Much different perspective.

Dom!!  What you say is so true!!  And if you read carefully the schlock that the righter is spreading, you'll notice that only TWO police chiefs are actually named and since one is in New York and the other is in Kalifornia, the writer can say, truthfully, that chiefs across the nation are opposed to this legislation.  The writer does NOT claim that a majority of chiefs, or even ANY other police chiefs are opposed to the legislation, just that police chiefs "across the nation" are opposed.

Since few, other than those of us who question these claims, ever read carefully or study further than the face value of the statement,  "somebody wrote it" and "it's in the public news", so "it must be true and factual".  Unless something or someone captures their attention with overwhelming evidence to the contrary, and manages to do it in the heart of the mainstream media so that it HAS to be reported, they will accept and believe that statement from now on!!
