Charlie T Waite
Senate Bill 8, so-called "universal” background check legislation sponsored by Senators Richard Martinez (D) and Peter Wirth (D), would ban all private firearms sales between law-abiding individuals. Gun owners would be forced to pay undetermined fees and obtain government approval before selling firearms to family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers, or fellow hunters, competitive shooters and gun club members. This proposal would have no impact on crime and is unenforceable without gun registration. NEXT STEPS: The next stop for SB 8 is the Senate floor. Now is when we need your help contacting your State Senator and urging them to oppose this bill. The Senate could take up this legislation as early as TOMORROW. Link to comment
