Trailrider #896
Tragic! The Goonie Bird is a most forgiving aircraft, but losing an engine (or both ?) on takeoff is pretty difficult to recover. RIP!

Abilene Slim SASS 81783
Based on the aerial photo, it was a departure stall. Things go to s**t in a hurry with the loss of an engine at low altitude. Tragic. Prayers up for the crew and their families.
Del Rio Pete
My understanding is the 55 yr old pilot was Brian Stoltzfus, President of Preferred Airparts. He was a former Samaritan’s Purse pilot. He flew a lot in Africa and helped and mentored many missionaries around the world.

Three Foot Johnson
The address given is three houses to the left, but this one fits with the pictures in the article - close to the road, across the road from the facility, angled, roof line matches, trees match. The skid marks appear to come from the west and be almost parallel to the road... it looks like maybe he made a 90º to the east after liftoff and was trying to put it down on the road...? If you lose an engine on takeoff, below Minimum Control Speed (Vmc), you need to reduce power on the good engine, or you'll wind up on your back. The problem with that is if you don't have enough power left to do anything but go down! "Run as fast as you can. There's nowhere to hide! Fate is the Hunter!" - Ernest K.
