Everybody says IAC, I have a 4th Gen Norinco that has been a tank.

Imis

1887, not 97.

IAC and Norinco may be the same, can't remember. IAC made a couple versions. One model had Coyote Cap Special Edition stamped on it, the other didn't. Either of these make good guns with action work done.

I think the IAC's handle better. If you can find a Coyote Cap Special edition grab one. If you can find a way to send it to Lassiter and have him put his Load Two mod in it they're even better. I don't think IAC makes an 87 copy any longer. I've seen used ones go from $450 up to $900, depending on action job and who did it.

Chiappa is now making what they call a Fast Load model. They work pretty good from the factory, but still need some polishing and fine tuning. The Chiappas are a tad heavier and overall better finished gun. The fast load model is around $1100 new and they make another model without fast load for around $1000 new.

CAI is currently making a PW87, these are the ones that have a billboard stamped on the left side of the receiver.  They handle similar to the IAC, but fit and finish is rough and they need a LOT of help. Can be purchased new for around $300.

There was also one made by Zhong Zhou Machineworks that we’re about the same quality as the newer PW87. I’d probably skip those. After a little more digging it looks like IAC is the parent company of this one too; regardless you don’t want one with Zhong Zhou stamped on it.

PM-Please confirm you a talking about the '87 lever SG, and not the '87 hammered SxS.

IAC and Norinco are one in the same from the same factory in China.

IAC and Norinco are/were importers only........

No more '87 levers or 97 pumps are coming from China.

Isn’t the hammered shotgun a 78 not an 87?

Don't think so, Century Arms International is a different company and still available new at places like Buds, Academy Sports, Zanders, etc...

Lithgow made a run of them before the Chinese started making '87's.  They weren't imported into the US, but I got to look over one at EoT'02 that was owned by one of the Australian contingent there.  If you can lay hand on one of them, that's what I'd do.

The IAC or Norincos were the best but are no longer being made.

I had a Zhong Zhou that Lassiter went through and it worked as well as my Lassiter IAC. However is was ugly because the side plates had Zhong Zhou machine works stamped into them in big letters.
