I can only speak to locally here in the South/Southest, but we are seeing some new faces. I'm not one of the fastest and may never be, but if someone writes it, I'll shoot it; I even try to thank them for it regardless of whether I like it. Jabez Cowboy,SASS # 50129
We still do more "Fun" things on the clock up here in Canada ,,,, though we seem to be sliding down hill toward Stand & deliver .... But thankfully the" Super Light load " nonsense has abated .... But I pretty much Play my Own Game, and let the chips fall where they may... Make Smoke and have Fun ... H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
Something else just occurred to me. Consider the following... Full pistol reload(s), plus a full rifle reload, plus a lot of shotgun targets. As has been pointed out, this makes for a very long time to complete stage. (Which was not what I was originally asking about, but it is still interesting.) But perhaps there is a solution to the it takes to long problem with this scenario. If the match is normally a 6 stage match, if you do this much reloading stage, make it a 5 stage match.

That'll cut the time down some!!
Constable Nelson #11784
Prior to about 98 CAS was a ONE handgun game here in Australia. (Some folks didn't like the change to two - which just about proves you can never make EVERYONE happy! lol) SO - we did a LOT of full handgun reloads.... and got pretty good at them. Sure, you aren't going to shoot a 16 second 10/10/4 Stage with one handgun...but it didn't stretch the stage time out THAT far (and major delays at matches are NOT caused by a stage taking 35 seconds rather than 20 anyway.....lets be realistic.) I don't recall EVER thinking of an on the clock reload as a safety problem.... TBH If folks want more ON the clock "non-shooting" stuff in the game - and many clearly do - I'd MUCH rather see an on-the-clock reload of a handgun instead of trying to stick a tomahawk into a stump or lasso a wooden horse! Jabez Cowboy,SASS # 50129
I have seen Folks take more time on the Line Fooling with Gun placement and Shadow shooting ( finger Pointing )than it takes to do a full revolver reload ... One fellow shifted his staged Rifle in the Window 4 times before stepping to the Doorway to practice removing his hands from the frame to his gun butts two or three times ,,,,, then he didn't like the timer start so he asked for an re-start .... Oh I forgot to mention his 20 second or More staging of his shotgun on the Hay Bale ,,,, Just so ..... Jabez Cowboy

Then shoot my regular molasses speed stage. If there's no movement... I'll run in place for a second or two... then stop... take a couple of deep breaths, maybe cough like I over-exerted... (maybe I did)... and proceed to shoot. Or... I'll shoot the first three shots from the pistol, lickity-split, then slow up the pace and fire the last two, very slowly... then, while I'm tradin' pistols ask the TO if he still knew which target is next... do the same with the rifle, while hitting the brim of a hat, a foot, a horn, or some other very likely un-marked part of a target. But, I don't mess around when I'm shotgunnin'... I take that serious like.
