Christmas guns

Boomstick Bruce

Recommended Posts

Alright, I've seen threads about who got what guns for Christmas so I figured I'll just start a thread where everyone can show off what they got!

Pics or it didn't happen!!!

I got a model 12 from my mom and stepfather!

Solid rib 20" barrel, 3" chamber, lead insert in stock. This thing is like brand new and feels like it was built just for me! The fit, balance and weight is perfect! It's the best pump shotgun I own!!!

Just the conversion cylinder - I already had the 1858. As a rule, I abhor conversion cylinders in C&B revolvers - I mean, if you want to shoot ca'tridge guns, buy ca'tridge guns, right? But I had this single, unmatched stainless 1858 that I never shot, so I sent Boomstick some $$$ a couple weeks ago, and he sent me this Howell/Taylor's .45 Colt conversion cylinder for it. :)

We had our family get-together on Saturday afternoon.  Youngest son and I helped the women folk out by keeping out from under foot.  We slipped off to a couple of our favorite toy stores.   He traided for a Mossberg 590 Shockwave. He hunts out west in bear country and wanted something that he could easily carry when making return trips packing out game.

Then Christmas morning I gave myself a Cimarron 1878 that had been in training stock inventory for a while.

Then....  yesterday, while on a drive-about,  spotted this gorgeous Colt SAA that had to come home with us.

But the best gift was having all our family together on Saturday except for on granddaughter and her husband.

Yes! Of course!!!! Those are always the best because it's exactly what you want!

My birthday is exactly one week (18th) before Christmas. Every year growing up all I ever heard was "we got you that for your birthday and Christmas." And it was never anything I asked for. Usually I got a few bucks for my birthday which I always spent on Christmas gifts for other people. I started calling them "birthmas gifts" and "birthmas money". Once I got my first job, I decided every year, I would buy myself exactly what I wanted. I knew it wouldn't be cheap...

This year I sold my Stevens 520 and bought a NIB Baikal single trigger for my birthday, and I sold my stainless Rossi 62 pump and bought a stainless 20" Rossi 92 saddle ring carbine for myself for Christmas. Neither has arrived yet ...

yep 50 necked down to the .429.  From my understanding that analogy would fit maybe?  Honestly just bought cause i found it at a true auction about 400 under dealer cost NIB from great seller...not sure how I feel about the round after more research.  May just mark it up a couple hundred and move it......kinda like found 5 boxes of 444 marlin for 15 bucks a box today.  I almost bought it all from Dicks but don’t even have a 444.....

The 429 Desert Eagle caliber is available in two variants: a 210 gr. JHP load offering a 533 meters-per-second (1750 fps) muzzle velocity and 1934,7 Joule (1427 ft.lbs) of muzzle energy; and a 240 gr. JSP load providing 495 meters-per-second (1625 fps) of muzzle velocity and 1907,6 Joule (1407 ft.lbs) of muzzle energy.

From a 6-inch barrel, the 429 Desert Eagle caliber offers a 25% velocity increase and 45% energy increase over a .44 Magnum. According to U.S. press sources, the 429 Desert Eagle is basically just as effective as a .30-30 Winchester on game out to 100 yards.

Somewhat.   If you can find this, it's worth picking up... https://www.theglenlivet.com/en-US/the-collection/nadurra-first-fill

"First fill" cask means the whisky doesn't get any flavor from whatever was in the cask before it, so it has to stand on it's own... and it does a fine job of it.

JD,

I found a small segment on YouTube about the .429 DE (Desert Eagle).

Its a nice video with positive comments.

Check out 'TGC News' on YouTube and its a portion of the video.

Thanks for posting the info.

My son got me a first generation Colt 38 Police Positive made in 1924.  Engraving on the blackstrap shows it was used by the American Railway Express.  I’ve put almost a full box of 38S&W through it and it is fairly accurate.

Wow, that’s a fine looking gun.  Having a gun that belonged to your grandfather is special.  I have my grandfathers gun too.  It’s a 1908 Smith & Wesson.  38S&W

Years ago before I started shooting Cowboy .

I used to shoot some Trap and Skeet.

After about 10 years  of not shooting my Ruger Red Label.

I decided to sell it .

Ruger then quite making the Red Label.

Then Ruger started making the Red Lable again .

I started thinking about shooting Trap and Skert again .

Then  I had a Motorcycle crash and kinda did not think much about shooting at all for a while.

When I decided to get back into Trap and Skeet shooting .

I started to look for a New Red Label again .

To my surprise Ruger discontinued the New Red Label again .

And the prices went threw the roof.

I started to look at some Turkish made shotguns .

And Some are very nice .

I would even say as good as my old Ruger was anyday.

After all the looking around I settled on a 20ga Tedna .

So my Wife bought me this for Christmas this year .

This has 26" barrels , Turkish Walnut stock , Case colored frame and Five Choke Tubes with Wrench and Velvet Sleeves and Hard Case.

I cant wait to get a chance to shoot it .

After I recover from my shoulder surgery.
