Both my State Senator, Mark McGuire and Member of the Assembly, Jim Wood, are staunch anti-gun leftists. Neither has ever voted against any anti-civil rights bill. My federal representatives are even worse - Dianne Feinstein, Kamala Harris in the US Senate, and Mike Thompson (D-CA 5th). Thompson is head of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. At a so called "town hall discussion" I read part of the Miranda decision and asked how he squared that prohibititon, "Where rights secured by the Constitution are involved, there can be no rulemaking or legislation which would abrogate them." with his push to do away with the 2nd Amendment, and he blandly said "No rights are absolute." and then moved on to someone else before I could ask a follow up question.
