IRS takes, then wastes

Since 2014, the Internal Revenue Service has spent $12 million on an email archiving system it hasn’t used. Why? According to a review by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, the system was purchased “without first determining project infrastructure needs, integration requirements, business requirements, security and portal bandwidth, and whether the subscriptions were technologically feasible on the IRS enterprise.” Translation: Facepalm!

A seriously delayed departure

In 2016, the Department of Justice’s Inspector General reported that the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Department of Defense had joined forces to spend $76.5 million on an aircraft, an ATR 500, that has never flown. This included both the modification of the earthbound plane and the construction of a hanger in Kabul, Afghanistan.

After spending $10 million to create a version of "Sesame Street" for Pakistani television, the U.S. Agency for International Development cancelled the project amid reports of corruption by the puppet theater working on the program.

A streetcar named expensive

Last but not least outrageous, more than $200 million in taxpayer money was spent on a streetcar line covering 2.4 miles of Washington, D.C., despite the fact that the bus system already does the job. The “good” news: The streetcar is free to ride.

PFFTT!

A drop in the bucket.

Our government is much better at pis  wast finding creative ways to dispose of leaves from the money tree:

A billion (Cdn) for a civil service pay system that doesn't work; a billion plus for a firearms registry that. SURPRISE the thugs didn't use. And on it goes.

But, our Prime Minister has nice hair and wears great socks!
