Subdeacon Joe
Bear Opens Door, Strolls Into Calif. Highway Patrol Facility Quote An "unexpected visitor" on four legs and boasting some serious dexterity handily let itself into a California Highway Patrol facility near Lake Tahoe earlier this month. That's right, a bear managed to open a door and saunter into the CHP Donner Pass Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility in Truckee on the night of Nov. 17, according to a video posted by the CHP Donner Pass office Saturday. Footage from the facility shows the bear poke its head up, making it visible through a glass window in the door. The bear, standing up on its hind legs, promptly turns the handle, pulls the door open and casually strolls through the doorway on all fours, taking time to check out what's on display in some nearby vending machines. After poking around the office, the bear eventually makes its nonchalant escape through the same door it entered.

Pat Riot
Later that day in a cave 3 young bears laugh at their buddy. ”Laugh it up guys. Yeah...real funny. They didn’t have any Krispy-Kreme’s. Only that Dunkin‘ Donuts garbage. You should have seen the look on those human’s faces.”
Buffalo Creek Law Dog
A similar thing happened at a hospital in Calgary about 5 years ago. The bear walked up to the front door and it automatically opened, so he went in. However, hospital staff chased him back out the automatic door. Because Truck Cops..... especially California ones were notoriously dirty. Imagine having your car randomly pulled into a shop bay and a cop getting out his creeper and inspecting every nut and bolt on the SOB..... He is gonna find something wrong!!! Ive always run tight trucks and always kept up on repairs.... it didnt matter in California. Lots of truckers refused to go to California.

After spending 25 yrs with the Military Police and 10 years as a civilian traffic cop, I could never understand why we were always made out to be the bad guy by the violator, when he/she was the one who broke the law. Goes with the territory, I guess.

Goes with the territory, I guess. Easy there, we always got the last laugh. Our truck enforcement unit had so much work on their hands that they started offering the job as over-time work. Usually 3 out of 5 truck inspections ended with the rig being shut down. That meant the rig was towed or fixed on the spot, was too dangerous to operate on the roadway. Well, we started to figure out them shut down rigs were not being repaired and were being driven off. So, we asked the government for more money to use for someone in an unmarked vehicle to sit on those rigs to see if they were being fixed or not. Found out almost none of them were repaired and the driver would return by their self and drive the rig off. The officer in the unmarked vehicle would radio the inspecting unit that the rig had been moved without repairs. So, the enforcement unit would return, stop that rig, re-inspect and find the same violation. Now, by the federal regulation it was then required that the entire unit be towed to the police impoundment lot where it would have to be fixed there or towed from there for repairs. Now the best part, it was an automatic fine to the owner of the rig of $10,000.00 and there was no court or appeal. Just a straight fine of $10,000.00 Do you think there were very many happy owners? Those rigs were marked too dangerous to operate on the roadway and just looking for some crash to happen
Blackwater 53393
The only two times that California officers stopped and shut down my rig were for fog lights that were legal in 48 other states and two neighboring nations and because the trailer doors were “to shiny”!!! The CHP cop took a nightstick and broke the fog lights out, smashing the lenses first and then bashing the housings to where they couldn’t be repaired. Those PerLux lights were expensive to replace and every truck in our fleet was equipped with them. The company attorney filed a complaint with CHP and got the belligerent cop suspended. On the trailer doors, they made me smear car wax on the doors to “reduce the glare of headlights” from cars following me at night. I told the officers that they should enforce the laws pertaining to following too closely and those that addressed bright headlight use. They got more rude and made threats of further citations. I pulled out my phone and began calling my attorney. They backed off quickly. I’ve NEVER had a pleasant experience with a California cop. Not even just asking directions!! I don’t go there any more!!!
Sixgun Sheridan
I already said this in a previous post, but when you enter California you're effectively leaving the United States. It's now an autonomous region with a government and legal system best described as somewhere between the USA's and Mexico's.

What the CHP DOT port of entry was doing was not on par with your job I can assure you. 50 states each with its own set of Commercial vehicle laws and some of those states really really enjoyed the revenue as a result. Sometimes I felt like a needed a lawyer riding shotgun.
Pat Riot
Many CHP cops have a snotty attitude. It’s not just with Truckers, believe me. But, I have also encountered CHP officers that weren’t all full of themselves. From what I understand the guys doing the truck detail aren’t happy to be on truck detail so they take it out on the truckers.
