I had the opportunity to shoot at a doe this morning.  She was standing broadside at about 50 yards outside of my yard fence.  The yard is fenced with cattle panels. If you are not aware of a cattle panel it is 52" tall and 16' long and suspended by steel T posts. The wire involved in these panels is hardened 3/16" steel wire, welded at each intersection,  forming 8" square openings.

Yep you are right. I hit the wire with 7-08 140gr bullet.  A vertical wire that I hit exactly center.  She left. Looks like I won't be eating venison again this year.

I suspect that the wire was exactly what Noz was aiming for, just to scare the doe off. (Who wants to shoot Bambi?)

Did the round break through? You still may have hit her. Is there a blood trail or any evidence of a hit?

It did go through but she showed no distress and left at a normal gait.  In addition, I did make a trailing attempt but found no evidence.

My guess is that if she was 50 yards 'outside of the yard fence', that bullet probably missed her

by a few feet.

..........Widder

She was 30 yards or so behind the wire and was my normal trophy size, maybe 60 pounds live weight.

It was a tough shot. Noz probably had his spot light on it early in the morning around 5am.

By what country's definition?

Well,  that would be just about every nation south of the Rio Grande, most of Africa,  most of Asia,  most of Asia Minor.  About 2/3 of the world population eats goat meat.

It is slowly gaining popularity in the US. Very lean, low in cholesterol and saturated fat.  Hard to find though.

One time I found someone who raised goats.   When she was ready to butcher some I bought one.  Wrapped it in cheese cloth and soaked it in Italian dressing.   Two days later I grilled it.  Wonderful.

I think I ate goat on a stick in China.  No complaints here.

Noz’s home is essentially a multi-room stand.  We should all be so lucky.  Keep watching, Bro, you will eventually tag out!!;)

True but you must admit viewing the hunting zone through the beveled glass of the front door is an almost insurmountable handicap.

I'm in hunting mode now and almost hope a deer doesn't come along.  I'd have to put shoes and socks on if I shot one.

YOU MISSED?!?!

Back to the range for more practice.

No venison for you!!

Here's a goat instead.

The only dairy we eat is goat milk, goat yogurt and goat cheese. A farm nearby sells goat meat, they call it chivo and it is very good. If you have lactose problems goat milk is the way to go.

I'm guessing you don't go up to the Navajo Nation much. It's the breakfast (lunch and dinner) of champions up there.

Aim for the wire next time. Then you'll hit the deer.

I cut off 50 pounds of Fat from the outside of my mulie Buck ...

It took 3 Men to load the Buck on to my truck ....

The buck had a chest measurement of 58 inches after field dressing ....

I use a rope hoist to lift my deer for skinning that gives me a 4 to 1 advantage, and I had to get my wife to help me pull him up ....

Live weights of our deer up here commonly exceed 450 pounds ...

I've been up there a few times. There's a Burger King not to far from the highway.
