Carolina Gunslinger
I have a few Vaquero and New Vaquero and they all have the Long Hunter spring kits. They all also shoot CCI large pistol magnum primers...I don't build Federal only guns anymore. Its a recipe for failure.

Slick McClade
Evening P Dawg, We make and sell a 13# zinc coated hammer spring for rugers. Black powder will not effect the zinc coating and the 13lb will pop all primers. Your welcome to try them off my website and if you don’t like the way they feel then send them back for a refund. Nothing lost but a little shipping on your end if you don’t like them. Cowboys have to stick together and help each other out these days. Widder, SASS #59054
I use springs I got from Slick McClade and can vouch for their dependability in my Rugers. I never have any issues with primer ignitions. And those springs he mentioned really feel good in my Vaqueros. ..........Widder

Small key fits into hole and depending on which way you turn it it either allows or prevents hammer strut movement. Without internal lock

Sedalia Dave
The SASS new model Vaqueros come with lighter springs than the older non-SASS new model Vaqueros. I could definately tell the difference when I changed out the factory spring for a 17 lb spring.
