Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329 Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Hi: I'm on the Brownell's Website looking at item # 969-000-156WB, Wolff's 30/14 spring pak Is there a better spring pack for shootin' Duelist & Gunfighter? Thanks --Dawg
Tyrel Cody Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Longhunter sells a similar pack http://www.longhunt.com/storelh/index.php?route=product/product&path=88_94&product_id=235
Carolina Gunslinger Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 I have a few Vaquero and New Vaquero and they all have the Long Hunter spring kits. They all also shoot CCI large pistol magnum primers...I don't build Federal only guns anymore. Its a recipe for failure.
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Call Wolff Gunsprings. Tell them to pull the order from the same lot of springs. https://www.gunsprings.com/ OLG
Warden Callaway Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 MidwayUSA has Wolff spring sets with 3 hammer springs so you can swap out until your happy. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/3415363678/wolff-hammer-spring-pack-ruger-bisley-blackhawk-single-six-super-blackhawk-vaquero

Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329 Posted November 16, 2018 Author Posted November 16, 2018 Yep, the locks are still in the guns --Dawg

Let me dig around, I think I have a couple of those kits that I won't use.
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 Give the fender washer a try with the OEM hammer springs. Sure works fine-n-easy on my wifes Rugers that had the locks. Good luck, OLG
Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329 Posted November 16, 2018 Author Posted November 16, 2018 Thanks everyone! --Dawg

Slick McClade Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 Evening P Dawg, We make and sell a 13# zinc coated hammer spring for rugers. Black powder will not effect the zinc coating and the 13lb will pop all primers. Your welcome to try them off my website and if you don’t like the way they feel then send them back for a refund. Nothing lost but a little shipping on your end if you don’t like them. Cowboys have to stick together and help each other out these days. Slick
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 I use springs I got from Slick McClade and can vouch for their dependability in my Rugers. I never have any issues with primer ignitions. And those springs he mentioned really feel good in my Vaqueros. ..........Widder

Lawman Mays Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 I have 2 Ruger New Vaqueros and use 19 lb springs I got directly from Wolf Springs. Some of you guys were talking about locks or no locks? Can someone explain what this means?
Rye Miles #13621 Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 Rumor has it that Dawg is going smokeless and two handed with his new Rugers!!! His Jedi and Pistolero status is in jeopardy!!!

Small key fits into hole and depending on which way you turn it it either allows or prevents hammer strut movement. Without internal lock

Wow thats a heavy spring, in NV i could have swore stock was 17 and long hunters are 14 with some even going down to 13.

I use 14 and havent had any misfires, but I also load federals
Lawman Mays Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 El Cubano, good to know. I am also loading federal primers, so I can go lighter. Thanks.

Sedalia Dave Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 The SASS new model Vaqueros come with lighter springs than the older non-SASS new model Vaqueros. I could definately tell the difference when I changed out the factory spring for a 17 lb spring.
