It's a Dillon 650.  I have heard that TB does not meter well.  We'll find out today.

I have used nothing but Trail Boss in my Dillon 550B for 10 years loading .45 and .38 consistently with no issue right down to an empty hopper. Just my experience.

Very easy to over charge any handgun case when not paying attention.

I say that as someone who has been reloading for 50+ yrs.

WW231 and HP38 are the same powder. My #2 choice for SASS.

I use Unique, for ALL of my SASS loading.

Good luck overcharging with Trail Boss.

Why does he want to use TB, when there are so many other powders that meter much better?

Have him look at Unique and WW-231.

Are you loading .45 acp?

Is so-I would use 5.5gn of WW231 powder and a 200gn SWC bullet.

I’ve loaded about 25k rounds of 45 on that recipe with 200 gr rn FMJ.    Been happy with that!  Just loaded up 1500 rounds for wild bunch.

You can't use FMJ bullets in WB or SASS.

Yup—-hence the 1500 lead rounds I loaded this week.   Kind of a bummer as I have two 20 mm ammo cans full to the brim of loose 45 fmj’s. I shoot several hundred a week so as I burn through those I’ll just reload with lead .

"Chuck, please tell your friend to get a good loading manual and stick to published data. I can't emphasize that enough. If he can find a mentor who can show him the reloading process, so much the better.

I hate to sound like a stern schoolmarm, but suggesting loads that are outside published data to a newbie reloader is a really bad idea."

BETTER ADVICE has never been given , this is worth repeating here even tho we are loading well below the minimum pressures and velocities - it makes no sense to make a mistake that can change your life or someone else's near you , there are so many loads that are within the norm for near any powder we might think to use in this sport , why re-invent the wheel ?
