WTB 45-60 brass

Just got a 45-60 rifle. I know I can trim 45-70 cases down, but hoping to find some 45-60 cases, or even some 45-70 that have already been trimmed.

What rifle? I, too, am on the hunt for a 76 carbine in 45-60

I just bought a Uberti Win 76  28" barrel. Heavy rascal!  I'm looking forward to SASS long-range side matches. I have 50 cases that are cut-down 45-70, but would like a some more. I haven't worked up a load just yet, guy I bought it from used 28grn 4155 w/ 300 grn bullet. Pretty frisky. I'm going to try about 12 Grn Unique with 300 grn bullet. I use 14.2 Unique with 330 grn in 45-70, and 10 Unique with 38-55.

I’ve got two Centennials, one is 50-95, the other is 45-60. I probably don’t need two and would likely let the 45-60 go (along with about 100 brass and the bullet mold) if interested. The brass is really easy to make from 45-70 using a trimmer. I’d be happy to cut some more down if it was needed.

I'm looking for a carbine only, which cimarron is out of stock until January or February. But thanks for the offer. Now I'm out so I don't hijack Hoss's thread here. Sorry about that Hoss.

I go by this guys shop often. I do not know the restrictions on shipping ammo but I can contact him for you if needed.

Be careful of using 45/70 as the rim thickness is a bit greater.  As far as loads get ahold of a copy of the 49th edition of Lyman’s reloading handbook—-has a section / article on reloading the 1876 Win giving loads for the 45 /60.  I found I got better results using Jamison 45 / 60 brass than cut down 45/70.  Do a search a few people advertise the ammo using Jamison brass

Hoss- Were you able to get in Ingunowners site? There was a post with 45-60 ammo.

Yes, but all I could find was loaded ammo. Really just want the brass. But thanks for pointing it out!

i did find a guy that 3D prints a jig for trimming 45-70 brass to 45-60. Uses a $35 mini chop saw from Harbor Freight. I’ll go that route until I find some real 45-60 brass.

Hoss, I too recently acquired a 45-60 WCF Uberti. Having had the same rifle in 45-75 WCF in the past I knew that finding cases would be the sticking point. I opted for trimmed 45-70 cases. The 45-70 rims are thicker than the 45-60 WCF rims. In almost all rifles the bolt will not fully close using the thicker 45-70 cases.

There are choices to be made.

(1) Buy new 45-60 WCF cases at $2 to $3 each.

(2) Thin 45-70 case rim to proper headspace.

(3) Machine the barrel chamber face to 45-70 headspace.

(4) Machine the bolt face to 45-70 headspace.

I opted to have the bolt face machined (10 1/2 thou) as the other choices seemed to expensive or to tedious.

Best wishes on your adventure.

guy I bought the gun from included 55 trimmed 45-70 cases in the deal. they all cycle just fine. But if I run into a problem i'll look into machining the bolt. And i'm going to keep hunting 45-60 brass as well.

I use a mini chop saw to trim cases and then they go in my lathe so I can scratch off the 45-70 stamp
