Maddog Al Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Bought a older sxs stoeger 12 ga that is in almost new condition with no action work done to it. Unfortunately the factory springs are so strong it is a pain to make the action open. Both the action lever on top pushing sideways and just opening the rifle takes a lot. I would really appreciate any information or links on parts or ways to slick this gun up. Thanks MD Quote
Ya Big Tree Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Great stuff here on rifles and shotguns. http://marauder.homestead.com/irons.html 1 Quote
Charlie Whiskers Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 When I was shooting Stoeger's I bought the lightened lever springs available from Longhunter's. I'm pretty sure others make them too, but his worked very well. Out of 3 that I had they also helped in the barrels opening more. Some have said that has nothing to do with the barrels opening more; but they did on all 3 of the ones I had. Also if you do order those, buy the hardened firing pins and the tool to go with them. 1 Quote
Charlie MacNeil, SASS #48580 Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 I put the Lee gunslinger spring kit in mine and it helped immensely. It also helps a lot to polish up all of the pivot points 1 Quote
Maddog Al Posted October 30, 2018 Author Posted October 30, 2018 Thanks for the replies,. I'll get a spring kit and get this thing worked in. MD Quote
Badlands Bob #61228 Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 If you lighten up the action lever spring too much on a Stoeger without doing other filing and fitting, your shotgun will start popping open after the 1st shot. Very annoying. Quote
Maddog Al Posted October 30, 2018 Author Posted October 30, 2018 Good to know Bob. Thanks. This is why I was asking for input, it's easy to find the basic information online but which is good ,bad or useless is the hard question to figure out sometime. MD Quote
