Col Del Rio
Anyone have/use a Ruger 357 9mm Blackhawk for competition? I am thinking of picking up one (or two) .
Imis Twohofon,SASS # 46646
I have a couple or three. They are great guns. Keep in mind there are categories which you wont be allowed to use them since they are adjustable sights. Imis
Null N. Void
I have Ruger Blackhawks in 357 Mag as my backup guns and won't hesitate to use them.

Three Foot Johnson
I've shot convertibles many times in Cowboy Action, including a 9mm Blackhawk. In addition to the aforementioned adjustable sights, if you stick the cylinder in a Vaquero, the 9mm case won't hold enough black powder to be legal in black powder categories. Trailrider #896
My Old Model Vaqueros are convertibles, although they didn't start out that way. They are .44's, one cylinder .44-40 and one .44 Extra-Long Russian (aka .44 Mangle-em). No, they don't have adjustable sights. I simply developed charges that use the same weight bullets and loaded to the same velocities with smokeless powder. Just depends on what ammo I have loaded at the time. Then grab the matching Rossi carbine, and a scattergun and go! Were I to go hunting, I would use the .44 Magnum cylinder(s) with appropriate loads.
