Boomstick Bruce
Do I have to plug the hole when I remove the safety on my 92 or can I just leave it open? My safety was engaged at the loading table last Sunday and before it decides to engage itself during a stage, I figure I should just remove it now... Three Foot Johnson
It will function just fine without it, but that leaves a big ol' hole for crap to get down into the firing pin channel. I you're handy with a hacksaw & file, it's no big deal to make a plug, or just order one from Steve's Gunz. You do NOT need to remove the bolt to remove the safety assembly and install a plug. Colorado Coffinmaker
There is a very tiny little ball and spring in there. Careful!!
Rooster Ron Wayne
I have slicked up several 92's for myself and others . The removal of the safety is easy and Steves guns has a great little plug that works good . https://store.stevesgunz.com and takes out all the guess work . Buckshot Dobbs
I actually made one for one of my Rossi’s out of a 25 ACP casing, I like how it turned out. The primer compound was removed of course lol.

Waxahachie Kid #17017 L
Question: Do the Chiappa '92's have this safety feature, or is it only the Rossi's? I bought my Rossi back in the 1980's, before this safety was lawyered in...thank goodness.
Three Foot Johnson
The Chiappa does not have a manual safety. A couple of my own Rossi's I've done. It helps to have a lathe in the shop.

You said lawyered in. It's not a law but if by that you mean lawsuit proofing then yes, with the add-on safety the insurance to make these guns cost less.
