Red Cent
WOW!! I have been leading a sheltered life. Maybe they shouldn't advertise the stats. "The national murder clearance rate—the calculation of cases that end with an arrest or identification of a suspect who can’t be apprehended—fell to 59.4 percent in 2016, the lowest it’s been since the FBI has tracked the issue." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/unsolved-murders-declining-murder-clearance-rate-a-brewing-national-disaster/ar-BBLJMtE?ocid=spartanntp

Lawdog Dago Dom
Speaking of Chicago, the current Cook County State's Attorney Kimm Foxx, has been asking for low or no bond on repeat offenders for violent and non-violent crimes. Now citizens in the south and west sides of Chicago are screaming for more police. Ok. You know, the same ones that complained police were the problem? The link attached takes you to three maps. The first are the Chicago neighborhoods that voted heavily for Foxx. The other two are maps that show highest areas of homicides for 2016 and 2017. So her voter base is in the neighborhoods that have the highest crime rates, committed by most of the criminals she refuses to remand to custody. You will notice the maps line up nearly perfectly. http://secondcitycop.blogspot.com/2018/08/some-interesting-maps.html

Red Cent
I did not realize that almost half the murders in the United States were unsolved. Folks, there are a lot of bad people out there. https://www.reference.com/government-politics/many-people-murdered-day-united-states-4ce42c4182d89232 "The number of people murdered daily in the United States varies each year. In 2016, there were approximately 15,696 murders, which breaks down to about 43 murders daily, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigations." Pat Riot
Interesting that “murder rates by state” numbers in the 10 states with the strictest gun control really hasn’t changed that much in 20 years. I used Marshal’s link and the link below to come up with this conclusion. What kind of surprised me were the stats in 96 versus the years after. Murder rates overall have gone down, but in 4 of the 10 states with stricter gun control the murder rates dropped and stayed moderately the same but rose in 2016. Those states were Illinois, Maryland, Hawaii, and California. https://www.deseretnews.com/top/1428/0/10-states-with-the-strictest-gun-laws.html
