discovering more ways a teenager can access cell phone

so I suspended phone service after my teenager went on bad web sites by accessing my home wifi.  i did not know she had found an older unused smart phone and had figured out you can make calls and text by accessing the same home wifi.  evidently I am slow to figure this stuff out but thankfully my other 3 are still loyal to me and let me in on the secret.  I thought something was up but had not figured it out yet.

My youngest / only grand chile is 16  and knows more about computers and cell phones etc than I could have imagined.  Not my problem any more, but his dad and girlfriend keep him on the straight and narrow.

Kids will be kids.

Tell them they can’t do something and they will find a way.

I was one of those kids. I turned out all right...

She's 14 acting like a 3 year old. She'll be alright when her head gets back in gear and by then her brother will start. Then the other 2 after that.  Sigh.   I had hoped to not have to change the router but will have to after all. I prefer flip phones for children

You shouldn't have to change the router but it should have a password. Without it,they can't use it. I think these can be changed also.

That's one of the worst places i think i messed up with my daughter.  Got her a smart phone when she was like 14.  Should have stayed with the flip phone for a while longer.  I was thinking if I got her a phone she liked, she'd stop losing it and then I'd have a bell on her and be able to find out where she is anytime.  Buddy i was wrong about that.  Not only was she addicted to the damn phone, but she'd never answer our calls and rarely answer texts.

Despite all my mistakes though, somehow she's turning out pretty good.

MY wife's nephew stayed with us one summer about 12 years ago. Found out he was up all night every night talking and texting on MY cell phone when I got the bill.  I had to move the phone chargers to my bed room to get it under control.

Not quite true.

if I want to connect to my router and don’t want to type “ Ed Fisher and Linda Bousquet were married May 23 1993 in Pelham” I can just push the button on the router and I am in.  There now you know the password to my router, except maybe I changed something.

on this one anyway the good news is, she had been hiding the phone and just as I was about to discover it she grabbed it and ran into her closet to hide it from me.  her mom went in to do a search with me outside the closet and discovered it so as they fought for it she grabbed the battery out of it and ran out to the woods and threw the battery into the woods which means now no one can use it including her, which i thought was fairly stupid on her part.  as smart as kids are they are thankfully really stupid

I have to have my son hook up router boosters and the like which come with a required password we tape on the fridge.  When the phone company put in new fiber optic line in, they put in a new router with a new password.  That's on the fridge too.  Can't access the internet without it.  At least I can't but I learned to type on an IBM Selectric also.  I'm old.  Congratulation on making it past 25 years together.:P

I started dropping little hints that I knew all about boys my daughter was talking to.  In some cases more than she did (because they lied about where they lived).  One boy in particular she confronted just to prove I was wrong and he admitted the truth.  She probably still thinks I'm some kinda super hacker when in reality I just saw the numbers on the phone bill and googled them.
