S & W model 60 Pro series

I have one and I like it very much. Mine is accurate with quite a few factory loads but I haven’t reloaded any rounds to see if it has a recipe that it likes.

I can tell you that shooting .357 out of it is quite invigorating. +P rounds are tolerable and it does shoot Remington +P .38 JHP very nicely.

I do not know how it compares with the Miculek .45 though.

For cheaper practice loads it is very accurate with Blazer Brass .38.

One more thing. That so-called “night sight” ain’t much to see after dark and doesn’t do much good as the rear sight is not a night sight. I wouldn’t bother trying to line it up at night...I’d use a flashlight.

Model 60 = 23.4 oz

Model 60 Pro = 23.2 oz

Interesting that the 60 Pro is only .2 oz lighter than the 60 but yet it feels much lighter. Perhaps it's because te weight reduction is in the barrel?

Having done a significant amount of low light and no light shooting with various tyoes of sights I will say that a front sight is better than nothing. You will not always be able to use a flashlight in a bad situation. The visible front sight at least gives you an idea where your muzzle is. Full tritium is better of course.

Best is Crimson Trace grips in my opinion. I have them on my J frame.

I do agree but this little dot of a night sight is really hard to pick up in the dark. I tried to photograph it once but couldn't as it didn't give off enough light. If I get a chance later I will photograph the little tiny Tritium vial that they installed. Seriously, it is tiny.

Here are some photos of the front sight with the Tritium insert. The side blade is 0.125” wide. The insert is 0.050” wide. I couldn’t hold the calipers in place and take a photo when measuring the insert so I measured it and laid the calipers down for a photo.

Given the size of the 60s front blade I’m sure it is.
