If you want to eat!

When I was giving big brown dog, they told me that she was picky about what she ate. They would put a bowl of food down and she would nibble at it all day long. They also had roaches all over their house. Coincidence?

So the first day I have her I put down a bowl of food about 5:00 and she took a nibble and she wandered away and at 5:30 I picked the bowl up and stashed it in the dog food can. And the next day I put that same bowl down at 5:00, and she took a nibble, and at 5:30 I picked it up and put it in the dog food can. Day three, when I put that bowl down at 5:00, she inhaled it. Never had any trouble with her eating after that. I put the food down and she'd eat it.

If they're "finicky", and don't want to eat what you put before them, pick it up. Eventually they'll eat it.

Mom adopted the fancy tiny dog of a patient of Dad's who was near death.  The lady gave a list of things, the special foods the little guy would eat, filet of sole with capers, etc..  He tucked his napkin in and ate everything at our house.  I have one who was a bit finicky.  Basically with two larger dogs I was feeding him too much.  Cut the ration by a quarter and he cleans his bowl every time.

The vet told my daughter that her cats needed to lose weight and should go on a diet. She got an auto feeder that would dole out food twice a day. It was fun to watch the race when the feeder clicked.
