Usually a buttermilk breakfast biscuit, (not to be confused with the cookies that you folks call biscuits) about the size of a healthy house cat’s head!

 

I usually slice mine open while they’re hot and put a pat of butter and some honey or fruit preserves on one or two and lay up some ham, bacon, or country sausage on a couple more, often accompanied by some cheese or sliced tomato or both.

NOT QUITE!!

 

These are bigger than scones and aren’t sweetened until you split it open and put some honey or jam on it.

 

The ones I bake are just a little smaller than my fist.
