So, here you are - the one's that come "free" with a paid subscription:

Amazon Prime:

  • Bone Tomahawk (Curt Russell)

  • Lots of the old classics, including John Wayne and Clint Eastwood

Netflix:

  • The Salvation (Madds Mikkelsen – LeChifre in Casino Royale, and Eva Green also from CR)

  • The Hateful Eight (Curt Russell)

  • The Ballad of Lefty Brown (Bill Pullman and Kathy Baker, with a brief cameo by Peter Fonda)

  • Dead Man's Burden (Low budget, no stars, but it has a good story.)

Miscellany TV:  Jericho.  Small budget, but a great story told.  Includes a couple of scenes with Richard Curillo!

If you have any suggestions for me (for good Westerns, that is), let me know.  Try not to cuss.

I edited the list to add Dead Man's Burden on Netflix that I watched last evening.  Worth it!

Uh oh. You mentioned Hateful 8. That will probably generate at least eight hateful responses to that movie in general.

Too much cursing for sure. In actuality, no one cursed like that with those words in the 1880s

Watched this movie on Direct TV pay for view.  Takes some liberties with history, but I'd never heard of this woman before.  If you can put the historical liberties aside, it's a pretty good movie.  My wife really enjoyed it (and that's always good).

I only made it halfway through that movie. It got more and more stupid as it went along and finally I had to quit. As for Bone Tomahawk, it was good but very gross and bizarre so be forewarned. It's as much a horror flick as a Western one.
