Historians have identified only 19 remaining hats, most of them now in museums. According to the auction house, Napoleon constantly had 12 hats in service, each of which had a three-year life span." Seems like a bit much...more like all of the Jesse James and Buffalo Bill guns that are in never ending supply. But, then he WAS Napoleon, and had a certain standard of dress to uphold....
