Gun shy. Are you???

Just curious.....with today's anti-gun atmosphere, up coming elections and threats to abolish the 2nd amendment and seize our guns......is anyone else besides me "gun shy" about buying more guns at this time?  I have plenty of guns...but always want just one more.  I can't bear the thought of buying more just to have to give them up one day.  Am I worrying too much?????  Never thought I would see these times.

Phantom , it WILL happen, and perhaps sooner than we think. OK we have Trump for 6 more, then what.

It WILL be a Bernie Sanders type backed by all the lil children who want ALL guns banned.

There are MANY now who want to abolish the second amendment. Once more lib socialists are in power ,

our basic "rights" as we know them are in danger..

And by that time most of us who grew up believing in those rights will be too old to do anything or dead.

Thank GOD we have TRUMP because he may be our last great hope!?

An anti-freedom liberal Congress and Senate getting an unconstitutional law passed and We the People voluntarily disarming are two different things.

I see this thread headed to the Team SASS forum.

That's funny... Someone actual thinks we're going to be forced to give up our guns.

If anyone thinks that the government is going to go from door to door confiscating guns, I agree with you completely.  However, I do see the day coming when we will be criminalized and if the police ever have reason to search you or your belongings, they will use any firearms found as grounds to arrest you.  Laugh at me all you like - maybe I'm STOOPID , but I really do believe that day is coming.

Virginia State Police are not allowed by law to enforce federal gun laws (thank you VCDL!), but the Commonwealth is turning more blue by the day and if the Left ever gets repressive gun laws passed at the state level, we will be screwed.

Ain't it interesting how drugs are being decriminalized while inert, inanimate objects are being criminalized?

As a libertarian (with a little "L") I cannot connect the two.  I believe every man or woman has the right to self-destruct in their own manner of choosing so long as they do it at home and do not endanger others.

I think the attacks will come at magazines and ammo instead of the firearms themselves.  Make it so expensive or cumbersome to purchase ammo, people will get out of the shooting sports.  California has already banned mail order ammo shipments directly to your house.

They would have to abolish the second amendment, that's not easy to do!

It worries me.  I am 60 and may not see it in my life time.  But with the movements across our great land today it could take place any time.  Whether they over tax or whatever ammo, components or whatever they decide to do........I believe it is coming.  God help our country.  Save us from the idiots that seek to destroy us from within.  My grandkids will never know the freedom that we have lived.  I went through school with a gun in the rack of my pickup.  But we were taught the proper use of guns, respect for others, and fear of the consequences of misuse of a firearm.

Coffinmaker it's that not  gonna happen attitude which will enter into this.

most gun owners aren't even NRA members, and  they are our only spokesmen

all the children seem to lean exceedingly left as do most dems

the republican party is beyond splinterred

True.

But, the runaround is the Federal Courts.  A few court districts have held up assault weapons bans, while ignoring the common usage part of the Heller/McDonald ruling.  Last stop after those rulings is SCOTUS, I think, and they don't have to take an appeals case against said rulings.  Which I think has actually happened, within the past few years.

The day will come when most firearms will be illegal for civilians to own here in the USA. With the increased urbanization of this country as well as the steady decline of hunting, organized religion and other conservative values it's inevitable. However it won't likely happen in our lifetimes. Our kid's lifetimes, well that's a different story. For the short term the greatest risk are limited bans on evil guns and mags, and restrictions placed on purchasing and storage. But for now our lever guns and single actions are safe. 100 years from now, maybe not.

Dave, you are about the only gun shy person in the United States.  So far this year, the monthly total of NICS checks has been over 2,000.000 - 11,000,000 Plus YTD

This is where I'm afraid most states are going.  Oregon is trying to put a magazine restriction on the November ballot.  I could very easily see states starting to tax ammo and ammo related products to try and reduce the availability of these products in reasonable quantities.  Other options would be to put requirements on ammo manufactures to mark them in some way so they could track items found at crime scenes back to the purchaser, etc.

I know about the record gun sales over the last couple of months.  But I doubt I am the only one who has thought about these issues.  I was just wondering if current political situations are curbing purchases till this subsides somewhat.

Ammunition is the key. Nobody has to pick up the guns. Types of ammo, this kind of bullet verses that kind of bullet, this metal instead of that metal. What propellants are used and how they are packaged. This kind of stuff can all be regulated in multiple layers by different departments to the point where acquisition, transportation or position is just not possible. Don't forget the shananiguns like; one department declares lead bullets ileagle. Nonpoisonous copper bullets replace them but another department declares them armor piercing monolithic solids.

 Must be the Russians.  Enjoy the time you have left Your guns are safe but in 50 years most will not even consider a firearm . Times change and hunting is on the decline, fishing is also as is ALL the shooting sports .this is what it is .

In principle I agree with you. However most people don't do so in a vacuum. They lie, cheat, steal, and drag everybody that cares about them down with them. And that's a GOOD outcome.

Don’t let fear control you, use it to your advantage. Remember Obama being the best gun salesman in history? That’s because non gun people were panic buying. Stock up now when the prices are low. Sell later to those panic buyers when prices are high. I’d recommend stripped AR lowers, 20 and 30 round AR magazines and a wide variety of the most popular calibers of ammo.

200 years from now, kids will be learning about this struggle in history books and wondering what all the fuss was about.

I doubt it.

The same people pulling statues down will be writing history books.:( Sad.

They're called Three-percenters. The theory is only three percent of the people stood and fought during the American Revolution. Suppose that still holds true today. Considering the U.S. population is 326 million, that would be, in theory mind you, 9,600,000. About. Divide that up among the fifty States equally, that's a "militia" of 192,000 for EACH State. Of course it won't be so cut and dried but...care to guess the active duty/reserve/guard military plus LEO's across America? Not nearly that much. Not even close and its likely that a substantial portion of them will side with "the rebels". See, ALL of those people took an oath to the Constitution. They either follow it or...

In short, there ain't enough of them compared to US. We The People. The government knows this and so do our adversaries. They have been working on this and I'm just gonna call'em what they are, commies and socialists have thoroughly infiltrated our educational system and government. We got us a second chance with President Trump but make no mistake, those adversaries infect our government all the way to the top.

As long as there's beer in the fridge and a game on the tube the vast majority of people ain't gonna stand on their hind legs. Unless the government goes and does something stupid like declare martial law or something without just cause. It would take a LOT for most people to stand up.

But.

There's some great Americans in this Country of ours. They ain't a gonna stand idly by while commies and socialists turn this great Nation into a cesspool. Bury my guns? Not hardly. Give'em up? Good luck with that. I have seen with my own eyes how corrupt our government is and in some cases, UNCONSTITUTIONAL. They oughta watch where they step beause I ain't the only PATRIOT out there. For now the proper course of action is the ballot box. Seems to be working but....

Well, Maybe it's time to establish Cowboy Militias. Matches would be firearms training exercises.

I’ve actually read that some anti-gunrights extremists believe that our matches ARE in fact training sessions for what they consider “militia” activity.

NO! I’m not the least bit “gun shy”. I often carry openly to the point that it’s a habit. Most folks around home here are confused if they see me without a sidearm, including the local LEOs.  Nearly everyone is positive about it and aside from the rare but predictable sidelong glance from some obvious anti, I’ve never had any confrontation, vocal or otherwise.

I believe that if we stand our ground, peacefully but firmly, with the conviction that our ancestors have shown in the past, we can prevail. We have EVERYTHING to lose and our adversaries have nothing to lose.  We should be like the “minorities” and the gays, (I’ll admit that I have been impressed with the results of their tactics and “in your face” attitude, though I have no affinity for the gay movement) and make our case loudly and forcefully at every turn!!!

This is is the most important thing we can do. We have the right and we’re in the right.  USE IT OR LOSE IT!! Keep doing it over and over until the bastards give up and go home!! Join SAF, NRA, GOA, and your state and local 2nd Amendment groups and shove the opposition around with an overwhelming show of strength and solidarity!!

USE IT OR LOSE IT!!!
