This was a goofy old dude but he had a big heart and was ready to help at the drop of a hat. His choice of a snake gun was a semi 22 pistol or his bolt action 22 rifle. He killed a lot of rattlers with both. His trick if one was coiled was to point the gun at the snake then slowly move the barrel in a circle. The snake would train on that movement. After a very short bit he'd just pull the trigger and the snake would literally shoot it's own head off.
