WTB Scary Black Gun in 9mm

For the last 10 years I have concentrated on Cowboy guns.

Time to broaden my gun horizon.

Looking for AR15 or something similar in 9mm. Retractable stock is a plus. Prefer short barrel as I will not be shooting long range with it.

I don't even know what the heck else to ask fer.

Just show me what you got.

Don't want to spend more than $800+-.

Take a look the the Freedom Ordnance FX9.

Its built from the ground up as a 9mm and takes Glock mags. AR-15 controls and ergonomics.

Fantastic gun and reasonably priced.

SAH, thanks for the tip.

I will check them out.

I just got out of the shower and am headed to the LGS to pick up a kel tec sub 2000 I ordered last week and then I'm off to work. they make the sub2000 that use either glock, beretta, or s&w  mags. I got mine in beretta since I have a 92 as a duty weapon so the mags are interchangeable. i'll let you know what I think of it tonight when I get home from work.

Why not call my good friend, T Bone Dooley over at his place, Cowboy Guns in New Boston Texas. About 6 or 8 months ago they started having PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine) matches on the Saturday of the Cowboy shoots at the Bar 3 range following lunch. He is getting 2 or 3 dozen shooters showing up to every match so this is right up his alley. I'm sure he would be happy to talk with you about which ones have been the most successful and which ones to steer clear of. He might even have something to sell you!

Bought a Freedom Ordnance FX-9 2 months ago. i have about 3000 round through it now and have not had one single stoppage or malfunction. Takes Glock magazines and is built from the ground up as a 9mm. Tried the Sub 2000's and JRC before buying this and it's head and shoulders above them in my opinion. They make both the pistol and rifle. I chose the pistol as it is also my truck gun and my Michigan CPL covers it. I have it topped with a HOLOSUN Green Dot and with co witness flip ups. I'm in love with it and probably have more fun than I have with a gun. Ring a 16” plate at 100 yards all day long rapid fire.

Looks scary enough.

I like it.

From their website:

We do not recommend the use of non jacketed ammunition as unprotected lead can cause fouling and buildups that plated and jacketed bullets do not.

:P

So I will have to clean this gun.

Maybe lol, but every manufacturer will say that.

I'm shooting a Sig MPX and think it is a well built gun. But........it was big money and came with a crappy trigger!    Take a look at  Stern Defense  MAG AD9 (getstern.com)  . They supply  a complete upper and mag adapter for a mil spec lower. Guns Magazine reviewed it in July issue.

I had a KelTech Sub 2000 .... interesting gun, but kind of flimsy.  Very compact, but that's it's primary purpose, to be small.

I have and LOVE a 9mm JRC (Just Right Carbine) that takes Glock mags.  Looks, shoots, and feels great.  I also have a takedown model in 45ACP.  I'd highly recommend JRCs.

Also, Rugers PC 9mm carbine is somewhat new to the market, but is getting very good reviews.   It's a few hundred dollars cheaper than its competition too.

I am attaching photos. I cannot get the entire rifle in one pic. It has a Firefield red dot site under the barrel also that he used before he put the Millet site on . Collapsible butt stock.

Sorry to say but my keltec sub 2000 is on its third trip to Keltec..  Bought it brand new and have only 175 rounds and factory springs keep breaking.  Very disappointed.  Bullett 19707

Got the Kel Tec today! I haven't shot it yet but I have played with it and other than it's kind of small (it's supposed to be) I don't really have any complaints about it. It is ugly and looks like a stick when it's unfolded so I have dubbed it "the ugly stick"...

Btw, it uses Beretta mags

i have had my kel tec 40 cal for about 2 years no problems i added a few extras  like the red dot, aluminum trigger, aluminum and trigger guard and the custom recoil pad / stock extender you see i made myself, being in the ornamental plastering trade for 40 years the mold making aspect came in handy.the 40 cal was hard on the shoulder so i made this to help with that and it also extends the length by one inch.enjoy your new toy5aae556a438b1_image1(2).JPG.2288748abaf6bd17817151dec8b7b176.JPG5aae557863b77_image1(1).JPG.e5ba0787c569a7d25d3910de535ae4df.JPG

Life is too short to own an ugly gun.

Anyhow I am now leaning towards custom build.

We'll see if it works out.

Hey Outlaw,

You can build one very cheep. They have specials all the time keep an eye out and you can get a great deal with them also very good quality. I have shot the Kel Tec and some might like it but I myself wouldn't spend the money on it with the other 9mm close to same price. I do have a Key Tec KSG and love it so I am not a Key Tec hater.

I like cheep to save money but very good quality (like you pointed out) is pretty important too.

So PSA is a good maker of components.

Who else? PSA seems to have a lot of "Temporarily Out of Stock" stuff on their site.

There are a lot of KelTec haters out there. I carry one (maybe two) everyday.

Ruger makes a 9mm takedown carbine that can use GLOCK mags.

Runs a bit over $510.00

Howdy,

Just right  carbine can be switched to other cals as well.

Might be handy sometime.

Scary and ugly enough?  Don't make fun now! My 10 and 12 year old nephews think this is great. ( A whole lot cheaper 9mm than the AR .223). 10 rounds at a time slows them down also instead of a 30 count.  Under $250 with tax and FFL on sale. Around $275 otherwise. No jams no problems lifetime made in Ohio warranty no matter who owns it. $800 gets you 2 with 1000 rounds for each.

Scary enough.

I like the price. Cheep.

Who makes it?

Does the mag go in the grip or if front of the trigger guard?

It's hi point, I have had 2 of them in 9mm and currently own one in 45. Not one single FTF or jam in any of them. Lifetime no questions asked transferable warranty, made in USA!!! Mag goes in the grip, but hightower armory just came out with a bullpup stock for them!!! I'm ordering one next week!
