"Quigley" Matches

Is there a handbook for the Long Range (Quigley) matches.   Someday when circumstances and finances (mostly the later) allow, I'd like to try my hand at it.

Has anyone competed in Long Range match? Please tell me about it.

From what I've seen, Quigley matches are offhand, on the clock, using a single shot rifle, 100 yards or so.  Not precision long range.  Of course people do things differently all over the country.

Look on the side match listings for Winter Range.

Here are the rules for the Quigley at Winter Range:

We just ran our Quigley side match this afternoon.  It is always restricted to single shot rifles, three rounds fired off hand with no support, no sighting shots allowed.  We usually do it at about 250 yards on a two foot square steel target.  In today's match, the winner was the only shooter with two hits.

Col,  in NJ we shoot Quigley at a bucket off hand at 300 yds.  Each shooter shoots a 3 shot string. Most hits in least amount of time.  It’s a lot of fun for sure.
