Loophole LaRue, SASS #51438
No sooner does a local tech company announce plans to sell robotic dogs as security devices, than the former Boston Police Commissioner (now a private security consultant) call for "licensing", claiming that the police "need to know what they are facing". Um, it's a mechanical dog with no head, no jaws, no teeth and no claws. What will a license accomplish (other than the creation of another governmental revenue stream)? Still, it's a bit unsettling to watch; how would you like to be chased by one or two of these in a dark warehouse? http://www.bostonherald.com/business/technology/2018/05/boston_dynamics_to_start_selling_robots_eyes_use_as_security_guards http://www.bostonherald.com/business/technology/2018/05/ex_boston_top_cop_edward_davis_says_boston_dynamics_robodog_should_be LL
Trailrider #896
Well, suppose your robotic dog was made by an outfit that wanted to use it to hack into your computer, or to disrupt the digital images on a police body camera? Never mind firearms, if you were the police, wouldn't you want the mechanical pooch licensed? By, golly, there oughta be a law!

LL If they are anything like the rest of the products Boston Dynamics makes they are really hard to knock over and can right themselves if they do fall.
