Licensing Robot Dogs.....

Recommended Posts

No sooner does a local tech company announce plans to sell robotic dogs as security devices, than the former Boston Police Commissioner (now a private security consultant) call for "licensing", claiming that the police "need to know what they are facing".

Um, it's a mechanical dog with no head, no jaws, no teeth and no claws.  What will a license accomplish (other than the creation of another governmental revenue stream)?

Still, it's a bit unsettling to watch; how would you like to be chased by one or two of these in a dark warehouse?

Well, suppose your robotic dog was made by an outfit that wanted to use it to hack into your computer, or to disrupt the digital images on a police body camera? :o Never mind firearms, if you were the police, wouldn't you want the mechanical pooch licensed? By, golly, there oughta be a law! :(

I wonder if they can get back up once you tip them?

If they are anything like the rest of the products Boston Dynamics makes they are really hard to knock over and can right themselves if they do fall.
