that song and that movie.... childhood memories. :)

Dantankerous:

      I agree with Festus.

Lots and lots of memories of that movie and the musical score sung by Marty Robbins.

I remember the movie as a child while living in Anchorage, Alaska (dad was stationed at Elmendorf AFB).

I even tried to memorize the words to the song.

Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Some things should never be forgotten. Won't let this one be one of them.

lets go back in time to 1969 in Anchorage, Alaska -

I was riding my faithful rocking horse with my hat, holsters and cap gun six shooters, singing along to Big Iron by Marty Robbins. It was the second song I learned all the words to, the first being the Marine Corps Hymn of course.

I still have every song memorized from Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs.

yep.... I rode to that one as well. Of course at the end of the song I would fall off my rocking horse, shot through the heart. But I never got a goodbye kiss from Felina, just a sloppy lick on the face by my basset hound Speedy.

That's the front of one of my favorite 45 rpm records, but not as worn out as mine.

Same thing here. Marty Robbins' El Paso was the second song I ever memorized. Glen Campbell's Rhinestone Cowboy was the first. And interestingly enough Frank Sinatra's Witchcraft was number three. All before I was 10 years old. I can sing them but I can't karaoke worth a darn. Nor will I. There are just some things I will not do in public. But I can sing the hell out of them in my Jeep.:D

First song I recall learning was Frankie Laine's Wild Goose.
