Other than being lighter in weight, what is the difference in this and an original?

Do you have an idea when the one for 1894s will be out?

The website lists the following as one of the features/benefits:

"redesigned the loading gate to offer substantially more clearance for cartridges, further reducing load effort. This is a significant benefit when loading fat, straight wall ammo"

If that is visible with the action closed, it is NOT on the list of allowed external modifications.
I would suggest that, if the manufacturer is interested in marketing the part to SASS/CAS shooter, a "Firearms Modification Consideration" be submitted as required under the procedure cited in the
SHB (p.32).

The clearance deal is internal.

I am gonna ask them to post a picture of their l'gate, and an OEM Marlin gate.

dropped by today (6 miles from the house) and bought the next to last blue version of it (first run).  waiting on more metal for next batch to be made

when I got home sent them copies of this thread, SASS homepage, SASS contact page, copy of SHB with section about getting it approved included in body of letter.

Hope they pursue this.

In that case, it would be LEGAL as an internal modification.

DUM question-The color(gold or silver)makes no difference? Is that correct?

TNX again,

OLG

That is correct (same as for hammers, triggers, frames, etc.) :

Quote

COSMETIC EMBELLISHMENT

...

- Metal surfaces may retain their natural color or be blued, browned, plated (such as nickel, gold, or silver), blacked, color case hardened, aged to a patina type finish, or jeweled.

well, I went by RP and bought a gate, came home and tore my Marlin down to the loading gate and discovered they didn't match:(

took it back along with the OEM and was told, "Oh, we haven't started making that part yet."

talk about feeling dumb.

I am at the top of the list for when they do make them, though.

and the rifle is all ready to be cleaned now :D

I'm confused.   It looks like they are showing the "back side" of the factory part and the "front side" of their new product. Or is it supposed to be factory on the left and RPP on the right?

I believe it's factory on top & RPP on the bottom, looks like the thicker part for the screw threads is just on the opposite side.

Possibly the "tang" on the gate is thicker on the RPP parts. Looks like it might be tapered. ?
