Snakebite
Other than being lighter in weight, what is the difference in this and an original?
LostVaquero
Funny I was just looking at these. Not available yet for 1894s yet. As long as roughly the look was there I don't see a problem but yep best get a more expert opinion

The website lists the following as one of the features/benefits: "redesigned the loading gate to offer substantially more clearance for cartridges, further reducing load effort. This is a significant benefit when loading fat, straight wall ammo" If that is visible with the action closed, it is NOT on the list of allowed external modifications. I would suggest that, if the manufacturer is interested in marketing the part to SASS/CAS shooter, a "Firearms Modification Consideration" be submitted as required under the procedure cited in the SHB (p.32). Warden Callaway
I'd have to see them side by side but it looks more like the "original" loading gate than the reintroduced model. I'd have to dig out an 1893 to compare the ones in the picture.

The clearance deal is internal. I am gonna ask them to post a picture of their l'gate, and an OEM Marlin gate. TNX, OLG
Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L
dropped by today (6 miles from the house) and bought the next to last blue version of it (first run). waiting on more metal for next batch to be made when I got home sent them copies of this thread, SASS homepage, SASS contact page, copy of SHB with section about getting it approved included in body of letter. Hope they pursue this. now to install it and will report back.

Warden Callaway
Here is a loading gate for a Marlin 1893, the grandfather of the 336. Maybe have Ranger compare their product to the first original Marlin 1893, 1894, and 1895s.

Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L
well, I went by RP and bought a gate, came home and tore my Marlin down to the loading gate and discovered they didn't match took it back along with the OEM and was told, "Oh, we haven't started making that part yet." talk about feeling dumb. I am at the top of the list for when they do make them, though. and the rifle is all ready to be cleaned now

Eyesa Horg
I believe it's factory on top & RPP on the bottom, looks like the thicker part for the screw threads is just on the opposite side.
