Lawsuit Filed Against Vermont Gun Control Law S.55

VERMONT FEDERATION OF SPORTSMAN’S CLUBS
CHALLENGES NEW BAN ON COMMON MAGAZINES

Montpelier, VT—The Vermont Federation of Sportsman’s Clubs joined a group of Vermont citizens, sporting-goods stores, and shooting clubs in filing a lawsuit, today, challenging the State’s recently enacted ban on the possession of certain commonly owned firearm magazines.

“Millions of law-abiding Americans—and thousands of Vermonters—own the standard-sized magazines the State now deems ‘large capacity’ and bans,” said Chris Bradley, president of the Vermont Federation of Sportsman’s Clubs. “These magazines are commonly used for competitive sport shooting throughout the State, and many citizens also rely on them for home defense.”

At issue in the lawsuit is one of the measures signed into law by Governor Scott on April 11, which bans the possession, sale, purchase, or transfer of long-gun magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds and handgun magazines with a capacity greater than 15. “Many of the most popular rifles and pistols come standard with magazines in excess of these new limits. The Vermont Constitution’s protection of the right to bear arms prevents the State from requiring law-abiding Vermonters to defend themselves and their families with sub-standard firearm magazines,” Bradley continued. “We are confident the courts are going to quickly strike down this obviously unconstitutional ban.”

Vermont Constitution Article 16

That the people have a right to bear arms for the defence [sic] of themselves and the State - and as standing armies in time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be kept up; and that the military should be kept under strict subordination to and governed by the civil power.

Slightly OT,but, don't you love the Gov. sayin he went back on his promises and passed these bill due to the Jack Sawyer school shooting plan. Now it looks pretty good that his courts and cronies will be soon letting Sawyer go. With only misdemeanor charges he'll be back at the gun shop & lethal again soon. But the law abiding will pay the price & will be the tools fault as always. "See something, say something" so we can ignore it! Sad. Sorry for the Hijack Jake. Just had to spout!

You nailed it,Gov. RINO Scott and his best Leftist buddies in the legislature did absolutely nothing to improve school system security,Nothing.

However they found the time to violate We The People of Vermont Article 16 and 2 nd. Amendment civil rights and they think the the People of Vermont should reelect them,Not a Chance in Hades,Well Bye RINO Scott.

Then there is ole RINO and he just signed away 70% of any supporters he may have had and hopefully won’t make it out of the primary.

Saw Stern on TV the other night. So far, He's my guy! Anyone in Lower Orange County needs to consider Bill Huff for Vermont Senate, a friend and good guy, completely on our side. A true sportsman.

Talked to Stern about a month back and he is a honest Constitutional conservative,a rarity these days.

Don't know if you have heard but in Washington county there is this fellow running for senate that you know.

He's a cowpoke and he's also sort of a cousin of yours, his last name is Eye,goes bye Snake for a first.     Adios   Sgt. Jake
