Hotel for Eldorado

Barry Sloe

Recommended Posts

We've got our applications filled out ready to drop in the mail and need to get some recommendations on where to stay.  This will be our first Eldorado, so we're in the dark.

Any thoughts on hotels, positive or negative, would be appreciated. Probably stay right in Boulder.

It should be noted that Boulder City is a small community and is the only town in the State of Nevada WITHOUT gaming/gambling.

Boulder City does have a few hotel/motel accommodations but they all fill up quickly due to an event called "Art in the Park" that is going on at the same time as the shoot.

The Hoover Dam Lodge is between Hover Dam and Boulder City and is relatively new. It is close to the range but is a bit more drive if you wish to go into Las Vegas.

Railroad Pass Hotel is between Henderson and Boulder City and 15 minutes from the range. It offers more convenience to Las Vegas.

Fiesta Hotel is in Henderson and is about 30 minutes to the range. Much Closer to town and the City lights.

Green Valley Hotel is about 40 minutes to the range and offers a more main stream casino experience.

The Eldorado Cowboys website has a list of local accommodations listed under the tab by that name if you click on Eldorado on the left side tabs.

If it were me, I would use Railroad Pass as my first choice and the Lodge as my second.

ps.

The Boulder City Hotel was built in the 1930s and offers a step into the past. The rooms are small with few amenities.

There are several small motels in Boulder City. Again.... No fancies.

Make your reservations early to get the best pricing. Weekend prices are much higher than weekdays.

Boulder City has a nice Railroad museum that is nice to visit if you like trains.

The park on the north of Boulder City has daytime visitors of desert bighorn sheep that live in the mountains.

If daytime time is available, a tour through Hoover Dam should be on your list. The Dam was built on time and under budget. The same cannot be said for the visitors center. You can also view the bridge across the Colorado River from there.

Art in the Park is own of the largest Art and Craft Show in the united States. If you have spendable cash they will gladly appreciate you sharing it with the vendors.

I could not have said it any better.

The rates for rooms in Boulder City proper will be slightly elevated due to the Art in the Park event.

Railroad Pass seems to be the most common destination.

If there is anything we can assist with; do not hesitate to contact Ace, myself or any member of the Board of the Eldorado Cowboys.

  +1 on Railroad Pass.....   close, convenient, adequate, and the coffee shop meets my (admittedly pedestrian) gastronomic requirements.

They also have a buffet (What hotel/casino here doesn't)

The food is OK.... Expect cheap to make and hard to spoil.

When it comes to food, it is hard to beat Eldorado's Saturday night award prime rib with all the trimmings dinner. This would easily cost you $50.00 plus in any Las Vegas location.

Not a local but for last year's Eldorado's match we stayed at the Best Western in Boulder City (a gun friendly motel!) and was a 10-12 minute drive to the range  (https://www.bestwestern.com/en_US/book/hotels-in-boulder-city/best-western-hoover-dam-hotel/propertyCode.29089.html)

As mentioned, Boulder city is small BUT has several nice places to eat, one of which was right across the street from the motel we stayed, which, if you ask right, you get a downstairs room that is 4' from your parked car, pretty convenient for loading and unloading gun carts!

We'll likely stay there again this year.
