Lariats for a Little Bucakaroo

My little 5 year old grandson saw his first "Cattle Drive" and Wild West show in Fort Worth and he had so much fun he got a new cowboy hat, belt and buckle...he loved the cattle  drive, the bull dogging and roping so he wants to get a lariat to practice his roping...I could make one but if there are any sources out there for them it might be faster and easier to order him one....anyone know of a source???

Real lariats are quite stiff and will be frustrating for a 5 year old to handle.  Get about 20 feet of soft cotton or nylon rope, fashion a smooth hondo, and stress that one never puts a loop around someone’s neck! Walmart and Lowe’s are good places to check.

 

Watch some rope spinning videos on YouTube.  Turn him loose!   Enjoy!

Visit your local farm supply store. Get the smallest diameter rope. Should be close to cattle feed. Keep the dog away from him as they are hard.

Cotton rope won't hold a loop and get very frustrating.
