Found some ammo

Recommended Posts

I was looking for some pictures packed away in a box in the basement, and found a big ol' ammo can packed full of 50 round boxes of Wolf .30 Carbine ammo... I haven't had anything in .30 Carbine in awhile... so, what should I buy? :P

Ruger Blackhawk, obnoxiously loud to everyone else, but minimal felt recoil and fun to shoot

I had a Blackhawk .30 Carbine one time, and you are correct about the noise! Also had a Universal M1... I think those are the only ones I've ever had in .30 Carbine. A USGI "shooter grade" would be nice, but even those are getting pretty pricey.

I have an M1 carbine, but I’ve always wanted to get one of the Rugers . I’ve been told they are a blast to shoot

I HATE SPELLCHECK!

Always thought the Blackhawk 30 carbine had a strange buzz in the grip when you fired it.   GW

 That's probably exactly what this ammo was purchased for! I didn't realize I had any left. If I buy another M1 or reproduction, I'll probably go with a USGI simply for the historical aspect.

This is exactly the reason you shouldn't be digging around in old boxes in the basement.  Now your going to feel obligated to buy something to feed that ammo to.  Nothing good ever comes from digging in old boxes.

I would get a USGI Carbine, not one of the new repros. Some folks may have had good luck with the new re-pops but online reviews are very mixed. Besides, with all the gun hatin' going on lately it might become difficult to get anything with a detachable mag in the future, and if you're going to be stuck with one it might as well be a good one.

Amt Automag III semi-auto pistol. A lot of fun to shoot and you have anyone who will want to crowd you at the range. You will have people asking "What the hell is that thing".

I handled, but did not fire one, it requires large hands.   I saw one used in an IPSC style match years ago, the shooter, a Colt employee, ran one relay with the AMT 30 Carbine and proceeded to  put on a wonderful tutorial on how to clear jams.  The next relay he used a Glock, I don't think he used anything made from where he worked.

J Bar...Just out of curiosity I checked Zanders. They show 3 variant's of the Auto Ordnance carbines. I can't comment on the Carbine, but I have had 2 45 ACP's (got talked out of the 1st one) and still have 1 of them. Very well built and also accurate compared to my WW2 Colt 45 ACP.

Hmm, never had one of mine jam up. Maybe he was using some downloaded ammo...........that would cause it to not cycle properly. You're right though, gotta have large hands to grip it correctly.
