Bottom Dealin Mike, SASS #22273
I'm slow as molasses, so I can't use myself for an example, but, what is a typical time for 10-rounds out of the rifle during a stage.
Red Rider Rudy
When timing at our club, I would say 6-9 sec.

Creeker, SASS #43022
Under match conditions; utilizing an actual sequence (not just a single plate dump) - I would say " fairly good" shooters (not necessarily the top 1% , but the top 20%) will run the 10 rounds in 4 - 5 seconds. I break myself down as follows: IF (and that's a big IF), I do my job; I can run 16 - 18 second stages. Figure 4-5 seconds for rifle 5-6 for pistol 5 for shotgun Add a couple seconds for transitions. These numbers seem about right to me for a "fairly good" shooter. Throw Deuce, Matt Black, Smokestack or Pecos Nick's (and dozens of others) rifle runs into the mix and you will skew all the numbers. They are running 2 second runs under match conditions.
evil dogooder
I did an informal evaluation last year while running the timer. The average was 4.7 top shooters were high 2s

Gateway Kid SASS# 70038 Life
+ 1 to Creeker I am not one of the top guns in our game but I ran couple in the 16-17 area at Winter range, (too many poor stages in combination to do as well as I would like) and at my home range I am usually in the 17-20 range. My rifle is my weak gun and is usually in the mid 4's Pistols are right around 5 Shotgun in the 1.2 per shot area so for 4 rounds about 4.4 - 5 Throw in about 3 or 4 seconds for movement and there ya go Regards Gateway Kid

OLG People say that a lot, but I actually brought one to the stage a few times. A period correct sundial compass: https://www.sundialcompass.biz But I've finally started speeding up in the last year and actually break 30 seconds sometimes! Imis Twohofon,SASS # 46646
I must be having twice as much fun as the 17 second shooters. I have noticed that when I concentrate on the targets my times come down a little. May just be me... Imis I think the winning time for speed rifle at last years Tn State match was high 2s. I worked speed shotgun so I didnt witness the rifle event.
Widder, SASS #59054
My observations are the same as EVIL Dogooder....... most of us average about 2 shots per second. And as he stated, there are the Borgs who defy averages and get those shots off super fast. Gateway Kid also mentioned some times for the SG. I agree there also. If you can average 1 shot per second with the SG (and put the targets down), you are among the 'better' shotgunners. And with a little practice, you could be in there with some of the 'best' shotgunners. ..........Widder

Imis Twohofon,SASS # 46646
Widder is right. I probably had the maximum legally allowable fun on the shotgun stage. Hope to be there this year too. Imis
Gateway Kid SASS# 70038 Life
Great replies from all!! Can't speak for the greats in the game, but for me, the focus level I need to achieve my best is by far the most important part of a good stage, as well as the most pleasurable piece of the puzzle. Without it, well lets just say I look a lot like Forrest!!! It is all about the intensity.... Yeeehaa!!! PS. Try to remember the quick guys are there for the fun as well.
