Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
The only thing that amazes me about those exhibitions is that they were actually trying not to hurt anybody

Charlie Plasters, SASS#60943
Argentina Rocka was my favorite. Snuck in with a friend to see a match between Verne Gagne and the Mad Russian. My friend shot the russian in the leg with a pea shooter and we were escorted out.

One more move like that and we launch the black helicopters. -- The Government

If so, he was the only wrestler that made the sport pages in the Chicago Sun Times in the 50s. He was that popular and fans wanted to follow him. I remember there was even an Editorial written on him in the sport section. Maybe "exhibition wrestling" but fans loved him. MT

Tex Jones, SASS 2263
Had an uncle who loved wrestling. We went to the Garden to watch Rocca, Haystacks Calhoun, Bruno Sammartino and, my favorite, Ricky Starr. There was one that made the papers when a few "hits" missed and blood was drawn. Can't remember who it was but his face was on the back page of the NY Daily News with blood everywhere.
Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L
One I remember the most was Gorgeous George. I was years before I realized wrestling was more entertainment than actual fighting

Eventually the state's highest court ruled that it was an exhibition and not a competition.
