Tell Sackett SASS 18436 Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Do people really buy guns and ammo from them? I don't. Gun shows work fine for me.

I've bought Winchester AA's LRLN several times from a Wally World in Helena, Mt. That's 90 miles south of where I live. There's also a Sportsman Warehouse there. The Manager of the gun dept. in Helena's Wally World is a shooter and hunter. He also carries some reloading supplies. His AA's when he can get them are usually $1-2 per box less than my local Sporting goods places here where I live. I don't make a special trip just for stuff, but when I'm going through I make a point of stopping. As for Gun show buying....not impressed. They're usually well overpriced. I've bought guns at Gun shows before. Usually old 1800 post Civil War rifles, Trapdoors, Sharps etc. There's quite a few "vendors" that travel the gun show circuits. They'll go to a local Sports store on their circuit and buy new guns...rifles usually... then take them to a gun show and sell them for $50-75 more than they paid at the store. 90% are not FFL holders. so they can sell to ANYONE without a background check. That opens up the door for people that shouldn't have any gun, to buy one regardless of their background. Most honest people don't want gang bangers, dope dealers, ex cons, etc. to get hold of guns that easy. That's what's stirring up the take a way from us pack of Dem's. and other gun grabbers. And yes I have an FFL but I only sell to people I know or have been referred to me. I deal out of my house (no store front to pay for)so I'm not a stocking dealer. That means I can afford to buy at cost and save my customers a few bucks.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted March 1, 2018 Author Posted March 1, 2018 I've bought some 9mm and .38 spl from WalMart but only when they were cheaper than the local gun shops. No more!!
Father Kit Cool Gun Garth Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 The article that Rye posted includes this statement: "We are also removing items from our website resembling assault-style rifles, including nonlethal airsoft guns and toys," Walmart (WMT) said. As has been clarified before, there is no such thing as an "assault rifle". The term comes from a Nazi firearm invention, the Sturmgewehr 44 or StG 44. (shown below) The German term "Sturmgewehr" translates to "assault rifle". Any use of the term assault rifle IMHO reflects an ignorance of the term itself. NOTE: Use of the term in this explanation was necessary.
Dr. O. R. Vet Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 In the CNN (Convoluted National News) article, this satement was made: "Americans broadly support tightening gun laws and a recent CNN poll found that 70% of Americans generally support stricter gun laws." I wonder which list of snowflakes they used in order to conduct their 'poll'? Dr. O. R.
Trigger Mike Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Since walmart stopped selling AR 15 rifles long ago, i doubt most teenagers want what they sell unless they are a hunter. Knowing my sons a lot of the teenagers that wanted an AR wanted it for the cool factor. they don't like wood and steel like we did growing up. they want funky designs like the odd looking keltech carbine or space age looking guns. Its disappointing though as it reminds me of the post a while back where we complained about stores not selling to us when we were 18 and 19 even though the law said we were old enough
Chili Ron Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Howdy, I respectfully submit the last election shows how accurate and reliable those polls are. A certain type of person just hangs up. If all those people vote the same way.....guess what happens...... Best CR
Wild Will Bartell Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Let’s see.... There’s a lot of screaming about raising the legal age to purchase firearms and ammo to 21. I’m going to guess because the level of maturity (?) would increase considerably in those 3 additional years. I personally know teenagers who exhibit a greater degree of maturity (and mettle) than the libs who blah-blah in front of the cameras about this sort of thing. Funny; I don’t see the libs screaming to raise the voting age to 21. Just sayin’....

Smoken D Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Remember Nam where you could go die for your country at age 18, but you couldn't vote or drink. Now they want you to join the army at 18, get out at 20, fire all the machine guns you want and when you get out of the army you can't even purchase ammo. Makes as much sense today as it did then. Idiots.

C’mon, Bob-aren’t you expecting too much from these people??? sure wish we had a sarcasm emoticon.....

Rye Miles #13621 Posted March 1, 2018 Author Posted March 1, 2018 I think about the young college student under 21 who wants a firearm for protection. They can now buy a cheap shotgun and keep it in their apt or wherever (I know most dorms don't allow firearms) How about the single mom or dad or couple for that matter that wants a firearm for home protection. An AR or shotgun or heck even a lever action rifle are all good home protection choices. Dick's and Wal Mart are jumping on the liberal bandwagon, terrible!!
Sixgun Sheridan Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Well now Kroger has stated that their Fred Meyer stores (located mostly out here in the NW) will no longer sell firearms to anyone under 21. All of these large chain stores have been the same for many years. Their gun counters are always unmanned and no customers are even looking. The only time I bought a gun from one (a Fred Meyers) there was just one person authorized to sell firearms and she took over an hour to sell it to me with all the red tape bullcrap we both had to go through. Besides that the guns and ammo are usually way overpriced and I honestly wonder why they even bother. If you want a decent selection of firearms you have to go to an actual dedicated gun shop. All these announcements are doing is giving the antis something to feel good about. Few of us here ever patronize the chain stores anyway.
Charlie Whiskers Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 So we all agree with the Lib's and other whiners and raise the purchase age to 21. That will obviously stop all of the killings going on in Chicago (we all know Black Lives matter in that City) and the other cities with high crime rates that already have strict gun laws. Of course all of those killings are being done by guns purchased legally. It sure would have stopped that jerk off that killed 56 people in Vegas....right? We just have to make sure we keep our evil guns locked up tight. That way they can't open the gun safe load themselves and walk down the streets shooting people. The owner will only know it was his gun when the officials come knocking on his door.
