Col Del Rio
Ok, I took apart my Uberti 1873 for an extensive cleaning. Now I cannot get the Lever Screw to properly line up. What am I doing wrong? Is there a trick I am missing? Its off by about 1 MM. This is equal parts frustrating and embarrassing. Col Del Rio
Silver Sam, SASS #34718L
loosen up the 2 short screws that hold in the bottom tang / trigger assy and just jiggle it around till all the holes line up and the lever screw will slide in You do have the lifter & lever springs loosened up or even better, removed.... Don Coyote, SASS #63736
May also want to loosen the two screws securing the stock so that the tang is not under pressure quite so much. Have a border rifle that requires that every time the lever is removed and reassembled. DC
J-BAR #18287
Did you remove the lower tang when cleaning your rifle? If so, your difficulty is likely due to misalignment of the lever screw hole in the lower tang with the lever screw holes in the main frame. Lubrication of the lower tang, a rubber mallet, and a brass punch that closely approximates the diameter of the screw will help you get things lined up. You are not the first to have the problem!
