Dirty Doc, SASS #18176
I have a new friend who is building a set of '73 & '92 Chinresters from scratch and parts. He showed me a mint looking '73 SRC which he had built from a rusted out, rotted stocked original with totally ruined barrel. He cut and carved the wood himself and it is perfect but for the blued overpits. He bought a complete receiver and action for a "38" Winchester 1892 at a gun show. He was wanting to build a 38wcf. The receiver turned out to be a 32wcf converted to 38 special. He is having a 38/357 barrel cut to fit it. I am trying to get him into CAS. I am trying to find him an affordable 92 SRC. Condition is irrelevant, but the mechanics are everything since he can re-barrel it and refinish the wood AND metal. Any help or ideas appreciated. THANKS!!
